Music Is Fun
Check Here For Information on FREE Program Music Is Fun© is a music program that offers group music classes as an alternative to private music classes. Our approach employs traditional piano instruction, recorder instruction and exposure to singing and uses several proven teaching methods. These methods use a comprehensive approach to teaching music, which includes theory, ear training, sight reading, ensemble playing, technique, composition and rhythm drills. Group Teaching Music Is Fun© is done through group teaching as:
Taking into consideration that children need a rich musical environment in which to develop, our curriculum includes opportunities for students to explore sound through singing, movement, listening, and playing musical instruments. The program also incorporates traditional children's songs, folk songs, classical music, and music from various cultures, styles, and time periods. The group atmosphere is fun. It motivates students to work along with and help each other and also encourages at-home practice. Group teaching, therefore, underscores the important social and musical aspects of sharing music and making music together, thereby, increasing the likelihood of life-long enjoyment of playing music or developing a career around music. Piano/Keyboard Instruction Music professionals seem to agree that the piano is an excellent instrument for children to start on, simply because when they push down on a key they produce a beautiful sound as opposed to other instruments where you can sound awful for months.
The professionals also agree that no other subject taught in school can compare with piano lessons simply because no other study teaches a child so many different skills and abilities, while at the same time giving him so many rewards and returns for his efforts. Music Is Fun© is developed around simple strategies for learning the piano and students are able to read and play the piano/keyboard from their very first lesson. Recorder Instruction Although the recorder is much easier to learn than instruments such as the guitar, clarinet or the violin, very often it is associated with toys rather than taken as a serious musical instrument. Yet, amidst these obstacles, we consider the recorder as one of the most valuable instruments for teaching music to children. Unfortunately, the recorder is sometimes abandoned because it is perceived as a childhood toy. The Music is Fun© concept leads young musicians to an open door, presenting music to them through the recorder music helping them to discover another side of life. Singing Music is Fun© is built on the belief that it is never too early to begin exposing children to music. When asked when should parents start singing to their children, the composer and educator Zoltán Kodály said, "at birth," and then corrected himself. "Nine months before the birth," he said. The Music is Fun© concept introduces the young musician to singing through familiar songs and endeavor to use songs from various cultures. The young musicians are exposed to age-appropriate songs, thereby increasing the likelihood for them to enjoy and learn from this important experience. Enrichment Enrichment activities include participation in recitals, open houses, HOPWAPs, community events, award ceremonies, and may include occasional TV productions.
Evaluations The young musician is given the opportunity to enjoy the music experience through achievement.
Award Ceremonies Participants are rewarded for their performances. Some areas students will be awarded for:
